U.S. Naturalization Ceremony Planned at North Carolina History Center

New Citizens Will Take the Oath of Allegiance on Friday, Nov. 14

NEW BERN, NC – Nov. 14, 2014

Tryon Palace will welcome some of the United States’ newest citizens during a naturalization ceremony held at the North Carolina History Center on Nov. 14. Hosted by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and the N.C. Dept. of Cultural Resources, the citizenship ceremony will include the Oath of Allegiance, Pledge of Allegiance and a Call of Nations.

More than 20 new citizens and their families are expected to be in attendance for this unique event. Also attending will be Major General Thomas A. Braaten, USMC (Ret.), who will provide the keynote address, and Chaplain (Colonel) Dave O’Connell, US Army (Ret.), who will provide opening and closing remarks and announce the Call of Nations. The Richard Dobbs Spaight Daughters of the American Revolution chapter will offer refreshments in Mattocks Hall after the ceremony.

This free event begins at 10:30 a.m. inside Cullman Performance Hall, located at the North Carolina History Center. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
