‘Eve of Revolution: A Candlelight Christmas Celebration’ to be held Dec 13 and 20
NEW BERN, NC – Aug. 1, 2014
Tickets for Tryon Palace’s annual candlelight holiday event went on sale today, Aug. 1. Held 4:30-9:30 p.m. on Dec. 13 and 20, “Eve of Revolution” will allow visitors to meet families in historical clothing and soldiers dressed in uniforms from four different wars, including the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Civil War and World War II.
Candlelight celebrates 300 years of Christmases past with music and dancing, beautiful holiday decorations, and amazing performances of fire eating, magic, and slack-rope walking. Visitors will also be treated to a lively performance of Jonkonnu, an African American cultural celebration that has been celebrated in Eastern North Carolina for nearly 200 years. To cap off each night’s events, there will be a colorful display of black powder fireworks on the Palace’s South Lawn.
