Blooming in September

As the seasons change, so do the surprises you’ll find in the Tryon Palace gardens. Below is a list of what’s blooming this month across our 14 acres of gardens.

And don’t forget that Tryon Palace is switching to its fall schedule. From Tuesday, Sept. 2, through Friday, Oct. 31, the gardens will close daily at 6 p.m.

What’s Blooming

Look for the New Bern Lily (Lycoris radiate) and Oxblood or Schoolhouse Lily (Rhodophiala bifida), large red blooms with no foliage, blooming late August, early September. 

Mums are coming late September and will include: Susan Coral Pink,  Golden Marilyn (yellow), Makenna (orange), Vanna Snow (white); Belgian varieties: Aluga (white), Lava (red), Pavia (red), Milano (yellow), Veritas (yellow).

Hyacinth Bean or Lablab vine (Dolichos lablab) purple bloom with purple seedpods
