New Bern License Plate

The histories of Tryon Palace and New Bern have been intertwined since Royal Governor William Tryon chose New Bern for the site of North Carolina’s first permanent state capitol in the 18th century. Now, you can support New Bern and get a New Bern license plate.

Apply here for a municipal license plate through the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles.  Plates cost $30 annually (in addition to the State’s annual vehicle registration fee) and feature the city’s historic coat of arms as a nod to the city’s Swiss heritage.

Applications are available at New Bern City Hall, located at 300 Pollock Street.  Show your pride, and put New Bern on your ride!  Plates feature four alpha-numeric characters and can be personalized for an additional fee.
