Get a head start on planning for the Tryon Palace Fall Heritage Plant Sale! Hear from Gardens and Greenhouse Manager Mike Spafford as he discusses which plants you can expect to find at the plant sale!

Discover wonderful, garden-worthy plants that you won’t find at the big box stores. Many rare and unusual plants as well as tried and trusted stalwarts that are sure to attract pollinators and garden lovers alike. Mike will also will highlight some of the best plants for our area, with tips and tricks to help your garden flourish and stand out!

Admission to the lecture is FREE.

The Fall Heritage Plant Sale is coming to the Tryon Palace Grounds Oct. 9 – 10. This is a FREE event.

Fall Garden Lovers Weekend will run from Oct. 9 – 11. This is a FREE event, but Palace tours and access to select building require One-Day Pass ticket purchase.

Originally hailing from a farm in Illinois, Mike has decades of experience in gardening and nursery management. He joined the Tryon Palace staff in 2018 and has been our Gardens and Greenhouse Manager since 2023. He oversees the maintenance of our incredible 16 acres of Tryon Palace Gardens. He leads the team in propagating and growing the plants used in the Tryon Palace Gardens–as well as the plants you can find at the Fall Heritage Plant Sale!
