Members are important to our past, but even more valuable to our future! Just as it was more than half a century ago, your membership with the Tryon Palace Foundation brings North Carolina’s history to life.
The dream to re-build Tryon Palace began with just a small group of supporters in the late 1930’s. Over the course of nearly three decades this movement gained strength and the support of the people of New Bern and state leaders, world craftsmen and generous and dedicated donors. In 1959, the reconstructed Tryon Palace was opened to the public, a testament to history, community and rebirth.
The dream to preserve yesterday’s history for tomorrow lives today through the Governor’s Palace, the History Center, the New Bern Academy, historic homes, handmade costumes, rare artifacts, interactive exhibits, beautiful gardens, and special events held throughout the year. At Tryon Palace, our nation’s history comes to life daily, an experience that would not be possible without our members.
