African American Advisory Committee

Since its inception in 1999, the primary goal and mission of the African American Advisory Committee has been to assist the director and staff of Tryon Palace to document and tell the story of African Americans in New Bern and Craven County, to both residents and museum attendees. The committee accomplishes this task through the development of new research, lecture presentations, reviews, discussions, and critiques of all historical data and exhibits related to the life and history of local African Americans.
