Celebrate the Season

From holiday-themed tours and candlelight celebrations, to  concerts and childrens' programs, there's no better way to celebrate the holiday season than a visit to North Carolina's colonial capitol, located in historic New Bern. Which event will you choose? 

Holiday-Themed Tours | Daily Through Jan. 3

Fri-Sat, 10am-3pm |  Sunday, Noon to 3pm
Take in the sights and smells of the Governor’s Palace and historic homes while they are decorated for the holiday season with different eras represented at each stop. (Tours continue through Jan. 3). Click here for details.

$20 adults, $10 youth (grades 1-12), free for children 5 and under.  

Candlelight: Colonial Christmas Celebration | Dec. 10 and 17, 2015

This famed North Carolina tradition returns to Tryon Palace in 2016 with beautiful, new decorations and heartwarming holiday vignettes illuminated by the magical glow of candlelight. Tours are held each Saturday night from 4:30-9:30pm. Click here details.

Toys for Tots Dropoff

Beginning Nov. 21 and running through Dec. 17, visitors can bring an unwrapped toy as a donation to Toys for Tots.

Santa and Mrs. Claus
Fri-Sat, 10am-5pm, Sun, noon-5pm
To make sure Santa knows who is on his nice list he and Mrs. Claus will be at the North Carolina History Center Saturday, Nov. 26, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Throughout the day children will also be able to listen to Mrs. Claus read Christmas stories. 

Polar Express
Saturday, Noon and 3pm
See this family holiday film about a young boy that takes a magical train ride to the North Pole. After the movie, children will meet the Polar Express conductor and receive a bell. Click here for Noon showing. Click here for 3pm showing

Live Music
Friday, 10am-Noon
Free performance of holiday music by the Down East Dulcimers. 

Holiday Letters for the Troops
Fri-Sat, 10am-5pm |  Sunday, Noon to 5pm
Throughout the weekend visitors will also have the opportunity to thank service men and women by writing a letter or drawing a picture to wish them a happy holiday season.
