No visit to Tryon Palace is complete until you've gone shopping and had a delicious meal on the riverfront.
While in the North Carolina History Center, you'll have a chance to shop at the Museum Store ... which is anything but your typical museum store. Offering local art, pottery, books, toys, and of course, plenty of souvenirs, you'll be glad to know that there's never cost to browse at one of downtown New Bern's best kept secrets. The North Carolina History Center is also home to Lawson's Landing Cafe, where you can sit down for a meal, grab a snack, or shop for locally packaged coffee by the Nahala Roasting Company.
While on the historic site, don't forget to find your afternoon boost with a visit to the Tryon Palace Craft and Garden Shop. Located behind the Stable Office in the Palace's old chicken coop, this "sweet" little shop has plenty of candy, drinks, toys, and souvenirs too!
