Members of the Tryon Palace Foundation are invited to attend a special exhibit preview and opening for "Needle Arts in New Bern" on Friday, May 8. The event will be held at the North Carolina History Center's Duffy Gallery from 4:30-6 p.m.
On exhibit will be various forms of work completed with a threaded needle including canvas work known commonly as needlepoint as well as smocking, beading, French hand sewing, traditional Japanese embroidery, and many other forms. In addition to pieces by the Embroiderer’s Guild of America and American Needlepoint Guild, there will also be pieces on display from Tryon Palace’s own collection, some which are seldom on display.
