Tryon’s Explorers Invites Youth to Discover ‘Nautical New Bern’

Monthly program slated for Saturday, Nov. 14

Tryon’s Explorers returns to Tryon Palace Saturday, Nov. 14, with the youth program “Nautical New Bern.” Designed for ages 6-10, this program uses the historic Stanly House to teach children about New Bern’s nautical history.

Once home to John Wright Stanly, a powerful businessman whose ships raided British vessels during the Revolutionary War, the Stanly House now opens a window to New Bern’s nautical past. Following a youth-oriented tour through the Stanly House, each explorer will have the opportunity to make his or her own nautical craft.

Tryon’s Explorers is designed for individual families and space is limited to 20 children. Extra openings will be filled the day of the event on a first-come, first-served basis. Any group interested in more information about Tryon’s Explorers is encouraged to call Tryon Palace Group Services at 252-639-3524.

Tickets are $6 per child with one accompanying adult admitted free and additional adults are $6 each. Program is also included with the purchase of a One Day Pass and members of the Tryon Palace Foundation will be admitted for free.
