Governor’s Challenge Cornhole Tournament Returns to Tryon Palace

Spend the day playing cornhole on the South Lawn Sept. 18 

Tryon Palace invites cornhole players to register for the Governor’s Challenge Cornhole Tournament presented by the Home Builders Association of Craven and Pamlico Counties. The tournament will be held 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, on the Tryon Palace South Lawn in downtown New Bern. 

Team registration is $150 per two-person team (plus $5 online processing fee), which includes lunch, snacks and beverages. Proceeds from this event will be used to support Tryon Palace. Teams are requested to register before Sept. 11. 

Tryon Palace is offering free garden admission during the event for spectators and visitors alike. No outside coolers will be permitted.

The tournament will begin at 11 a.m. with an opening toss from Royal Governor William Tryon. 

Proceeds raised from the Governor’s Challenge will be used for critical repairs needed to Tryon Palace’s garden maintenance building.
