Tryon Palace’s popular celebration of African American culture, history, music, and song is currently seeking new performers to join its troupe. Jonkonnu performances are held throughout the year for educational programs, parades, and two Saturdays in December during Candlelight.
Tryon Palace is currently offering FREE workshops throughout the summer to help educate new performers of what Jonkonnu is all about.
Workshops will be held every Tuesday, from June 19, 2018 to August 7, 2018 and will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the Waystation Auditorium. Workshops will take place on the following days:
The last Jonkonnu Workshop, August 7, will be a large performance taking place in Mattocks Hall in the North Carolina History Center.
