Veterans Day at Tryon Palace
Monday, November 11, 2024
Each November 11, Americans celebrate Veterans Day, which was once called Armistice Day. The date marks the end of World War I, fought by America in 1917 and 1918. The date marks the end of World War I, fought by America in 1917 and 1918. The Armistice between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. For that reason, November 11, 1918, is generally regarded as the end of “the war to end all wars.”
We observe Veterans Day to honor the service of all military veterans of the United States Armed Forces. On Veteran’s Day, Tryon Palace offers FREE One Day Pass admission to all Veterans, Retired and Active Duty military members, as well as their spouses and dependent children.
Tryon Palace honors all Veterans – past, present and future – for their service and sacrifice.
