Please join us for the Tryon Palace Fife and Drum Illustrated Lecture Concert featuring Shane Mason, Historical Interpretation & Programs Coordinator on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at 3:00 PM in Cullman Hall at the North Carolina History Center.
This insightful lecture will share the story of the musical backdrop to the American Revolution through performances by the Fife and Drum Corps. Explore the meaning and context of these tunes including the unique history of “Yankee Doodle” and its surprising influence during the Siege of Yorktown. Come learn about the music that propelled a nation from the beginning of the Revolutionary War through the Seven Year’s War and French Revolution.
