Discover Tryon Palace: Life on the Lesser Stairs

March 17, 3:30 PM
The “Life on the Lesser Stairs” tour highlights the lives of the men, women, and children, both enslaved and indentured, who worked to make this large and important household function.

The story of Tryon Palace is most often about the seat of government, and the lives of the governors and their families. This tour shines a light on the individuals who also called the Palace home but whose lives are often overlooked.

Tour goes to the Palace, Stables, and Kitchen Office first floors.  This tour involves walking and climbing stairs. This ticket includes a Garden Pass. Space is limited. Flash photography is prohibited.

Tour begins at the Palace Front Gates at 10:30 AM
