Outlander in the Palace Tour

Join historic interpreters and step into Tryon Palace to learn the facts versus fiction of Diana Gabaldon’s award-winning Outlander series. The tour explores the lives of the fictional Fraser family, their friends, and their interactions with true historic figures of the Colony of North Carolina through the tumultuous period of the American Revolution. This tour covers books 4 – 8 and the Starz Outlander production seasons 4 – 7.  Tour includes access to the 18th century Stable Office, militia encampment, and the Palace Gardens.

18th Century Time Travelers’ Tour

Join Tryon Palace interpreters for an adventure back to the 18th century. Meet with Governor Tryon’s cook in the Kitchen Office and learn about 18th-century cuisine.  A local Apothecary or Surgeon will discuss remedies of the time to ward off illness and some of the instruments used for surgery. Details of the latest fashion trends will help you travel to the past successfully. Learn the facts versus fiction as presented in Bridgerton, Outlander, Poldark and our American Revolutionary period. Tour includes access to the18th century Stable Office, militia encampment, and the Palace Gardens.

Try-Yarn at the Palace | Fiber: Past, Present, and Future

Explore fibers from the past, present, and future at Tryon Palace. We will demonstrate the historical process of spinning and weaving, and show how raw, natural materials are made into a completed woven product. Various textile fabrics through the ages will be on display, as well as textile tools, wool samples and preps, and samples of 18th century clothing. This program is presented in collaboration with the Seacoast Spinners and Weavers Guild.
