Tryon Palace to Present “Christmas and Classics, A Concert by Pianist Sharyn Edwards”

NEW BERN, NC – Dec. 14, 2017

Tryon Palace will host a holiday-themed piano performance, “Christmas and Classics, A Concert by Pianist Sharyn Edwards,” on Thursday, Dec. 14. Sharyn Edwards, a North Carolina native, will be performing holiday favorites and classical compositions. This performance will take place in the Cullman Performance Hall in the North Carolina History Center at 7 p.m.

Dr. Edwards has concertized extensively throughout the Carolinas and Southeastern U.S. in solo and chamber music recitals. In 1999, she made her New York debut at Weill Hall, Carnegie Hall and her first CD was released on the Musikus Label featuring selections by Scarlatti, Haydn, Debussy, Liszt and Schumann. Other concerts include a successful tour in Russia in 2001 where she performed at the Grand Palace in Peterhof, the Rimsky Korsakov Conservatory in St. Petersburg and the Igor Stravinsky School of Art and Music in Lomonosov. In 2013, Dr. Edwards returned to Russia to perform at Peterhof and the Igor Stravinsky Museum in Lomonosov.

Dr. Edwards holds a Doctorate of Music Degree in Piano Performance from the University of South Carolina where she studied with the renowned Raymond Dudley and John Adams. She earned a Master of Music Degree in Piano Performance at the University of Kentucky where she studied with James Bonn and a Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano Performance as a student of Dr. John P. Adams at Mars Hill University.

Tickets are $12 for adults (ages 13 and older) and $6 for youth (ages 1 to 12). Foundation Members will receive discounted tickets at $10 for adults and $5 for youth. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the ticket desk in the North Carolina History Center, located at 529 S. Front St. or online at www.tryonpalace.org.
