Description of Work
This is a repost previous applicants need not reapply. Is responsible
for various accounting functions for Tryon Palace. The site is a multi-
faceted historical complex. Tryon Palace includes 4 separate
accounting entities, each with its own financial statements, & dual
fiscal years. Duties include: track & analyze current & projected use
of funds to ensure proper allocation of limited resources;
independently calculate & post into the GL monthly accrual entries to
document payroll, depreciation, insurance & interest expenses; respond
to requests for statistical studies from Fiscal Research, the
Department Budget Office, Tryon Palace Commission & staff requiring
the employee to independently develop complex Excel spreadsheets for
the analysis of data; & provide support for independent audits of 2
Tryon Palace entities. In addition, this position performs day-to-day
accounting functions, including A/R, A/P, daily deposits, budgets,
billing, inventory, monitoring of ticket selling & other related
accounting tasks.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

accounting and financial expertise; working knowledge of government
accounting methods, procedures, and accounting practices; ability to
verify and ensure accuracy and validity of moderately complex
transactions; ability to examine accounting records to assure
adherence to accounting standards and regulations; ability to resolve
problems of routine to moderate complexity and recommend solutions;
ability to gather and explain financial information; ability to use
accounting related software, including, but not limited to, Microsoft
Excel; analysis and problem solving skills; strong general computer
skills; clerical skills, interpersonal skills.

Training and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and one year experience in
accounting work; or an equivalent combination of training and
experience. Management prefers a degree in Accounting and at least two
years experience in accounting work. Familiarity with non-profit and
governmental accounting standards is preferred Degrees must be from
appropriately accredited institutions.
